Vesak-Feier im Gemeindesaal Kandersteg

Diese Feier setzt sich aus vier verschiedenen Teilen zusammen. Sie beginnt mit der Möglichkeit der formellen Zufluchtnahme zu Buddha, Dhamma und Sangha und der damit einhergehenden Bekennung zu einer ethisch integren Lebensweise (fünf ethische Grundsätze). Danach folgt eine Segensrezitation (Chanting) der Mönche in der Pali-Sprache, bestehend aus kurzen inspirierenden Lehrreden des Buddha als auch später hinzugefügten Segens- und Schutzversen der Theravada-Tradition.

Die darauf folgende Mittagspause und die gemeinsame Mahlzeit stellen den geselligen zweiten Teil dar.

Im dritten und kontemplativen Teil der Feier, wird einer der Mönche einen Dhamma-Vortrag halten.

Der abschließende und zeremonielle Teil der Feier besteht aus einer gemeinsamen Umgehung eines Buddha-Altars mit Blumen, Kerzen und Räucherwerk – draussen, wenn es die Witterung zulässt, ansonsten im Saal.

Vesakh Celebration in the Kandersteg Community Hall

This celebration consists of four distinct parts. It begins with the opportunity to formally take refuge in the Buddha, Dhamma, and Sangha, and the associated commitment to an ethically upright way of life (five ethical principles). This is followed by a blessing recitation (chanting) by the monks in the Pali language, consisting of short, inspiring teachings from the Buddha as well as later added blessing and protective verses from the Theravada tradition.

The subsequent lunch break and communal meal represent the convivial second part.

In the third and more contemplative part of the celebration, one of the monks will give a Dhamma talk.

The concluding and ceremonial part of the celebration consists of a communal circumambulation of a Buddha altar with flowers, candles, and incense – outside if weather permits, otherwise inside the hall.
